Anti-Fracking demonstrators at Quadrilla exploratory fracking site in Lancashire

During 2017-2018 I photographed the anti-fracking demonstrators at Preston New Road in Lancashire on a regular basis. One of the many organisers of demonstrations was Tina Rothery, she was often seen walking around the entry gates with a shirt on, with 'Nana at work' written on the back. These are photographs of older people fighting for what they belief in, they are demonstrating on grounds of political and environmental beliefs. Sometimes 'ordinary' elder citizens were supported by celebraties such as Vivienne Westwood and Emma Thompson. Fracking was started here against the wish of local residents and the local Government but pushed through by Central Government. Policing was often overly heavy and now, finally fracking was suspended at the end of August 2019 after activity by Cuadrilla Resources - the only company licensed to carry out the process - at its Preston New Road site in Lancashire caused a magnitude 2.9 earthquake. These demonstrators and their belief for a better, frack free Lancashire finally got justice, if even just for the moment, they will fight on.
